Logochora & Symphyma @ Leukokephalon

Glossary

Logochora (from Greek logos = word, reason, speech + chora = space, land, place)
“Land of words” — the conceptual or ontological space of pure potential meaning, abstract forms, and linguistic possibilities. In a Whiteheadian context, it corresponds to the realm of eternal objects: all that can be thought, said, or prehended before it becomes actual. The logochora is the silent landscape of the sayable.

Symphyma (from Greek syn = together + phyma = growth, that which has grown)
“Growing together” — the process by which many elements (ideas, perceptions, data) coalesce into a new, unified actual entity. In Whitehead’s philosophy, it is concrescence: the creative synthesis through which a subject arises from a many. The symphyma is the living movement of reality-formation within the logochora.

Mein Begriff für A. N. Whiteheads Gedankengut:

Leukokephalon (from Greek leukos = white + kephale = head)
“White head” — a symbol for pure, abstract reason or speculative wisdom. In relation to logochora and symphyma, it represents either the detached intellect that contemplates the land of words from outside (fallacy of misplaced concreteness) or the mature wisdom that comprehends both the space of possibilities and the process of their actual growth.
